Screw Revolution, and Other Great Inventions？
Brother Engineering Co., Ltd. started to use it in production in Chinese market
Just changing screw makes
defective goods reduced and work efficiency improved
−. 『Totsupura Screw』developed by Hios(Matsdoshi
Chiba-hyun, Chief Director, Katsyuki Totsu, printed
on ‘Small tower Enterprise’), the largest company
in industrial electric screwdriver field will be
produced mainly soon . What is expected as No. 1
of acceptance is Shenzhen Factory, major manufacture
position of Brother Engineering Co., Ltd.
At present, we are testing the effect in Japanese
Engineering Co., Ltd. and we will begin trial production
in China at the end of Aug.
If there is no problem, we will use this in our
products from September and we will input this in
new products and increase the models using it.

This
has double contact area so it has fewer defects.

This is the starting point of various effects.
At first, force is delivered certainly so bad
fastening is decreased. In test, although we work
in the same condition, scattering of fastening
force became about 1/2 when compared with that
of plus screw. If we induce this effect, by making
the turning force of driver weakened, we can reduce
the burden of workers and we can miniaturize driver
itself. Especially there are a lot of young women
unskilled laborers. We expect the improvement
of productivity by reduction of defective goods
and quick actions in factory in China. And just
to fit screw on the bit makes bit inserted deeply
so it prohibits the screw easily pulled out. It
is said that it can bear the crosswise power by
about 2 times than plus screw.
For example, it is easy to induce the fastening
work of crosswise screw into the process, so the
degree of freedom gets increased in the production
line design. We secured the compatibility with
usual plus screws. As for the plus screw that
made screw head damaged by vain operation when
it is fastened, it can have the additional effect
that it gets be fitted well if it has Totsupura
bit whose end tip is breadthways. This will be
connected to the increase of work efficiency of
repair and maintenance. Chief director of hios,
Katsyuki Totsu is an ideamonger who calls himself
『inventor on the street』. Chief Totsu who have
over 200 patents devised Totsupura by himself.
His motto is 『Look down』and he focused on screws
that anyone uses in everyday life unreservedly
and created a unique idea. The market size of
major industrial electric driver is about 7billion
yen, however if it includes the screw market,
the target market get increased as about 20 times
so the extension of business is expected in hios
itself.

now, Makita, Sharp and Sony, the electric tools
companies have ever used this partly in domestic
factory as trial. 『Factory in World』However, what
accepted it with considering total changes in factory
in China was the first case. Totsupura screw has
no difference from usual plus screws by appearance.
However the bit (the end tip of screwdriver that
fastens the screw) is different. In general, the
bit of plus screw has conical shape, however the
bit of Totsupura screw has a little bottle shape
because the end is breadthways. Accordingly, the
groove of screw is so deep (refer to the below right
photo), this is just a Columbus’s egg. Although
it is a simple idea, it makes the contact area of
screw that delivers force when it is fastened and
bit about double. |

The supplementary effect
for 10% price increase

『Screw Revolution』of Hios has
a former example. It is 『Totsupura Screw』, which
was improved in ‘screw’ as the same idea in
35 years ago.
It is evaluated as when the screw is fastened,
bit gets hard to slide breadthways, so many
large enterprises such as Seiko, Sony and Nintendo
etc. accepted it. It became the motive force
in the initial days of hios. Although plus screw
became main later so its role was nearly finished,
we have neglected the weekness of plus screw
so we will challenge for the revolution again.

old and new problem, however as far as we depend
on manual labor, actually it is seldom eradicated
』said a man related to the manufacture industry
of Japanese economy.
Totsupura has 10% higher price than those of
usual plus screws, Brother Engineering Co.,
Ltd. supplemented this so it found out the effect
to create profit. The problem of screw fastening
is common in all manufacturing companies. If
so, will screw revolution create a whirlwind
in manufacturing industry?
